Ryan (pronounced RAY-ANN) is a poet out of Riverbank, California and a third-year biology major. His writing focuses on reconciling his traditional Syrian upbringing with his identity as a first-generation American, with an emphasis on trying to better understand the communities and spaces with which he interacts. Above all, Ryan aims to canvas his internal dialogue, bridging topics such as mental health stigma, growing up low-income, and humanitarian rights. He is currently working on his first chapbook, boy, for when he isn’t, lending his take on his current position in the universe as shaped by his experiences and his environment. In his spare time, Ryan can be found learning how to correctly debke, curating/creating music, or falling into a Youtube spiral of Obama speeches and Johnny Carson interviews.
