Janani Balasubramanian, ’12
Janani Balasubramanian is a writer and immersive theatre-maker whose work has been presented at more than 160 stages across North America and Europe, including The Public Theater, MOMA, Abrons Arts Center, Andy Warhol Museum, Red Bull Arts, Ace Hotel, Brooklyn Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Most recently, Balasubramanian premiered Heisenberg (an audio augmented reality game on uncertainty and chaos) at the High Line park in New York.
Balasubramanian is a 2018-2020 Van Lier fellow at the Public Theater, as well as artist-in-residence with the brown dwarf astrophysics group at the American Museum of Natural History. Current projects include Stargeit, a Cold War era novel about an extraordinary friendship, and Rogue Objects, a large-scale augmented reality experience about the perils of consciousness.
